Zoom In Then Zoom Out

Usually when we want to achieve something in life we zoom in to see exactly what it is we want. We go through some self-reflection and personal assessment of how this thing, accomplishment, or state-of-Being would benefit our lives, environment, or relationship, and then the planning of the next steps occur so we can follow the road map to get to where we want to go.

Yet in the process when we encounter difficulties, challenges, or resistance we can push our zoom in into hyper-drive in a way that can get us lost in the details. So don't forget to zoom out! In the moments where you might feel stuck or failing in some way zooming out helps to re-balance our perspective in remembering and reminding us what it is we want and what is actually important.

You could be looking for a job or having a career change and despite your right efforts of researching and networking with what companies you feel would be a good fit, putting in applications, and attending interviews you find yourself no closer to that job or career change. This is an opportune time to zoom out and look at what brought you to this moment, recognizing that what got you here usually isn't what will get you to the new territory or terrain that has yet been traveled.

Zooming out helps you to remember that you are going off the reservation and out there will utilize the tools and experiences you've gained up until now, but it will also take new tools and new ways of Being that won't always feel elegant or make sense linearly. This is growth and zooming out helps you see the process as well as the quantum leaps available to you.
