Refined Beauty

On a recent meditation retreat our group found a field in super bloom from primrose and verbena spring flowers. The rains leading up to this Spring season provided the support needed for the flowers to grow and bloom in the desert. From the amazing and awe-inspiring scents that permeated the air around the flowers we decided to find a nice spot to meditate with the flowers. ;)

At which point I realized what real beauty is. I realized the symbol of a flower perfectly captured the essence of not only real beauty but refined beauty. Real beauty occurs organically with part of the beauty being transitory, fleeting. What we see or notice in that moment won’t be there forever, we just happen to be in that specific moment for that special thing to happen.

Real beauty taps us into the nature of life, the precious moments we have and share and the wonder of how it all comes together so it can be experienced in joyful and happy ways. When you gaze at a flower you might notice a vibrance, an energy, a shininess that exudes from it. That light is within all things and when we refine ourselves through changing old, patterned behaviors to support the healthier choices and relationships we want in our lives we shed the heaviness of those old patterns and beliefs to be able to shine in bright and beautiful ways.
